Water
Water determines life and your vacation in Zell am See. From the deep blue lake Zell to the powerful Krimml waterfalls up to the Kitzsteinhorn glacier. Water as a (power) source of life is omnipresent in Zell am See.
In the morning a swim in the clear water of the lake, at lunchtime a visit to the breathtaking waterfalls, and in the afternoon take the gondola up to the glacier for a snowball fight in the middle of summer. This is what the perfect day looks like for anyone who loves water.
Sigmund Thun gorge
If you love water, you’ve come to the right place.
Especially when the snow melts on the mountains in spring, masses of water rush through the gorge. The path leads over wooden footbridges and small bridges through the striking rocks to the Klammsee, where a pub, a playground, and the Klammstüberl with refreshments serve you.
Water is energy
The 2 high mountain reservoirs with their turquoise water are embedded in the alpine landscape. They are true marvels of technology. The turbines are hidden in the dam walls and are used to generate green electricity all year round. Even the journey to the reservoirs is a little adventure, because the Lärchwand inclined elevator takes you up 431 meters. Once at the top there are hiking trails, exciting tours of the dam and a lot of interesting information about electricity generation.
Those who are particularly brave can climb the dam wall using a via ferrata.
